Week 4 is Over!

It was a pretty decent week this week. I only really had a big food issue one of the days. It’s getting easier in the sense that food definitely doesn’t have the grip on me that it did in week 1. During that time, it was all I could do not to stuff my face at any second. Now days, I am definitely feeling more in control. It’s a good feeling, and it’s one that I haven’t had in as long as I can remember.

The results:
Start Weight: 253.8 lbs
This Week: 241.2 lbs (-2.2 lbs this week)
Total Weight Lost: 12.6 lbs

Going into next week, I am going to have to be thinking quite a lot about mental strength.  I visit my family on Friday, and I will be with them until the new year.  They have a detrimental impact on my weight, usually.

I am afraid because even thinking about being around them makes me feel fat, ugly, and hungry.  I truly don’t know how I am going to get through it.  I have to be ready to deal with the very worst – eating out every night, getting criticized for looking fatter, being compared to my smaller female relatives, etc.  For years and years, I was taught that I didn’t deserve to think about myself.  That everyone else came first.  This Christmas, I am going to take everything they say with a grain of salt.  I will not let them have the power to take away my self worth this holiday.

Anyway, a 2.2 pound loss is great, I am proud and here are my thoughts going into week 5:

  • Keep up with the veggies.  I need to be eating as many as possible.  The more white starches I can replace with lean protein and veggies, the better off I am.
  • Start “reframing” my thoughts for time with my family.  It is going to be rough, but I know that I can get through it.  I deserve it!  I have come this far, they will not take it away from me.
  • Keep up with the exercise!  I did my exercise video 4 times this week, and the goal is about 5 times a week.  I can do it this week!
